Pastor Michael Leong

  Michael Leong is a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God in Malaysia. He grew up in First Assembly of God Church and is actively serving in various capacities such as worship leading, music, teaching, preaching, interpreting Mandarin language speakers, and leading a Life Group. 

He first received his call to full-time ministry when he was still in secondary school. He worked with the church on a part-time basis when pursuing his Bachelor of Theology degree and subsequently went full-time with the church after he graduated from college. His heart and passion is for the young generation of the church.

He is now the Youth Pastor in the English Ministry of First Assembly as well as assisting the English Ministry pastor. Growing up in church gave him the necessary background and an “edge” in ministering to youth. His leadership in Youth Ministry also extends beyond the English Language congregation to all language groups in First AG Church in his leadership of the NuWav Youth ministry. He is one of many “home-grown” ministers in his local church.

Michael has a degree in Mass Communication, majoring in graphic design. He designs numerous leaflets, posters and brochures for the church over its various ministries. His communication interests also led him to develop in the areas of computer animation, video editing and web design. He is highly tech savvy and likes to discover new “widgets and gismos” the World Wide Web has to offer.

Pastor Mike sits on the Youth Alive Malaysia (YAM) committee which helps inspire, equip and train the young generation of today. As a committee member, he manages the YAM website, blogs, designs and organizes various YAM events throughout the year. He ministers as a speaker and teacher for YAM events such as the H.U.G.E. Camp, Youth Leadership Courses and Pastor’s Kid Retreat.

Michael received his theological training from Bible College of Malaysia (BCM). The person of the Holy Spirit, Spiritual Gifting for functioning in today’s world and Emerging Leadership are amongst the subjects that interest him. Christian Ethics is also a topic of interest to him as it is highly practical in today’s organizational, business and church climate. Through the years, the Lord has taught him many principles from the Word of God that has helped shape his ministry and change many lives.

He is married to Michelle Tan and is blessed with a daughter, Miracle Leong. His passion is to build a generation of young people who are strong in faith and in the Spirit of the Lord.
